Portuguesa Symphonic Band Concert

"ECOS DE ÓPERA"

BRASS AND PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE
Filipe Fonseca – Musical Director

The majestic setting of the Church of Clérigos welcomes the Brass and Percussion Ensemble of the Banda Sinfónica Portuguesa for a programme that celebrates symphonic music and the grandeur of opera and zarzuela.

In this concert, the audience is invited on a journey through different eras and traditions of operatic music — from the Wagnerian romanticism of Elsa’s Procession to the Cathedral to the lyrical energy of the overture from Il Guarany by Carlos Gomes. The programme continues with the elegance and vibrant character of Spanish and Argentine sounds, featuring suites from De la Gran Vía by F. Chueca and J. Valverde, and Maria de Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla.

The concert culminates in the festive spirit of Christmas with Christmas Toons, a sparkling and light-hearted selection of holiday classics, masterfully orchestrated by Anthony Di Lorenzo.

In this emblematic space, music becomes a bridge of sharing and celebration — a moment of virtuosity, emotion, and hope — inviting all to embrace the Christmas spirit with serenity and light.
