“The Strange Terrible Other III”
Temporary Exhibition
From 6 February onwards, the Torre dos Clérigos hosts the exhibition “The Strange Terrible Other III” by Agostinho Santos. This artistic project forms part of an exhibition and editorial cycle on cancer, resulting from a dialogue between the visual artist and pathologist Manuel Sobrinho Simões on the theme of cancer.
Symbolically inaugurated on World Cancer Day, the exhibition reflects the Torre dos Clérigos’ mission of service to the community and to humanity. All ticket revenue from 7 and 8 February (Saturday and Sunday) will be donated in full to IPATIMUP (Institute of Molecular Pathology and Immunology of the University of Porto).
Bringing together paintings and drawings created from real images of human tissues, the exhibition builds a bridge between art and science, reinterpreted by the artist to explore metaphors and perceptions surrounding the disease. At the heart of this exhibition cycle is cancer, a condition that cuts across society. A subject that evokes fear, fragility and an awareness of finitude, and one that has led the artist to long periods of research and creation.
The exhibition will be on display at the Museu dos Clérigos until 28 February 2026.
