Clérigos Tower joins the Portuguese League Against Cancer

The Clérigos Tower and Museum are once again joining the National Fundraising Campaign of the Portuguese League Against Cancer (LPCC) — a nationwide solidarity initiative that raises awareness and funds to support cancer patients and their families.

On November 1 and 2, all ticket revenue from one of the most visited monuments in northern Portugal will be fully donated to the LPCC, directly supporting the League’s ongoing work in prevention, research, and social assistance.

This initiative takes place during a period of special meaning — between All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day — traditionally a time for remembrance, reflection, and solidarity. By visiting the Clérigos Tower on these days, visitors will have the opportunity to contribute directly to a cause that touches thousands of Portuguese families.

“Solidarity is an essential part of the Clérigos mission. The Tower is a symbol of the city and a meeting point between faith, culture, and humanity. We want each visit on these days to represent a gesture of sharing and hope for those facing illness. We invite everyone to (re)visit us,” says Father Manuel Fernando, President of the Irmandade dos Clérigos.

The National Fundraising Campaign of the Portuguese League Against Cancer has taken place annually since 1941, and remains one of the institution’s main sources of funding. Donations collected help provide social and psychological support to patients and families, finance scientific research, promote screening and prevention programs, and raise awareness across communities.

Through this initiative, the Clérigos Tower reaffirms its role as a cultural and religious institution actively engaged in social causes, inviting both locals and visitors to take part in this gesture of solidarity that transforms each ticket into a contribution to life.
